Khammam: A clash broke out on Thursday between the CPI and TRS workers, during the Telangana state formation day celebrations in Khammam district of Telangana.
The confrontation between the workers left one person dead and injured several others. It is not yet known what the cause of the clash was.
Police immediately took control of the situation and imposed prohibitory orders. They imposed Section 144 in the Gudurupadu Mandal of Khammam district after the clash.
So far no official statement has come from the two parties involved in the fight.
Telangana came into existence on June 2, 2014, under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of parliament.
Several cultural programmes have been lined up across the state to mark the second anniversary celebrations. The state government has sanctioned Rs 30 lakh for each of the 10 districts to hold the celebrations between June 2 and June 7.
AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh has slammed Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) for the celebrations.
