New Delhi: The RTI (Right to Information Act) on Friday made a startling revelation about the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), saying that more than 25 metro stations in Delhi were flouting fire safety norms.
The list of the metro stations named by the RTI included high traffic stations like Kirti Nagar metro station, Moolchand metro station, Nehru Place metro station, Huda City Centre Metro Station, Kailash Colony metro station, etc.
Albeit incidences of fire breaking out in Delhi metro stations have been rare with only Rajiv Chowk metro station witnessing a minor fire on its roof in 2014, flouting of the safety norms would expose the public to dangerous circumstances in cases of emergency.
Among the 25 metro stations, some stations have been flouting the safety norms for a month or more while some have been flouting it unconcerned for more than 2 years.
