Mathura clashes have alleged links to spiritual Guru Jai Gurudev

Mathura: A day after the massive violence in Mathura led to killing of more than twenty four people, including an SP and an SHO; more than 1,000 followers of Swadhin Bharat Vidhik Satyagrah have been arrested by the police.
The entire fiasco is allegedly being linked to supporters of a spiritual leader popularly known as Jai Gurudev. According to the reports, his wealth is estimated to be worth over Rs 12,000 crores. His property includes land worth Rs 4,000 crores.
His original name is believed to be Tulsidas Maharaj and he is said to have died in 2012. These encroachers are believed to be the followers of the same sect, known as known as Swadheen Bharat Andolan.
It was in 2014 that Gurudev's supporters had reportedly occupied hundreds of acres of land of Jawahar Bagh in Mathura on the pretext of a protest. In their social media postings, Swadhin Bharat Vidhik Satyagrah's followers describe themselves as political and social revolutionaries.
