NEW DELHI: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday raised her voice against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government in Parliament over the ‘failure of institutional mechanism’ in India.
Slamming the NDA for doing nothing concrete in its one year of being in power, the Congress President stated that the Centre is one-man government.
Sonia Gandhi alleged that all the powers had been centered on the Prime Minister’s Office with other ministers having no real authority or control.
The Congress leader than criticized the former government on foreign soil. “Our country is being criticized on the international ground and this has happened for the first time,” she said.
Taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance government, Gandhi asserted, “Those who murdered Gandhiji are being praised.” The comments from the Congress President came in the backdrop of few BJP leaders who in the past praised and lauded Nathuram Godse who murdered Mahatama Gandhi.
“The government has shown a deplorable lack of interest in punishing people responsible for delays in public services,” she further said.
Also the Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, Sonia Gandhi offered a notice for an adjournment motion in Lok Sabha today to carry out a discussion on the ‘failure of institutional mechanism’ in the country that was denied by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
