Bhubaneswar: The Coastal parts of Odisha were once again hit by heavy rains on Friday, June 3.
Widespread heavy rainfall and thundershowers lashed out at several parts of Coastal Odisha today due to which the everyday life came to a halt. The rains were accompanied by lightning and high-velocity winds which led to trees falling and blocking roads.
Earlier the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted that the weather conditions would remain conducive for rainfall and thundershower activities would continue in the coming time as well. Parts of South Coastal Odisha are expected to record good showers this year.

Similar weather conditions were also recorded on June 1 in the state.
However, during this time of the year, it is common to see huge convective clouds develop over the region. Such conditions then usually result in lightning and thunderstorm followed by heavy showers and very strong squally winds sometimes reaching up to 80 kmph to 90 kmph.
