Muhammad Ali, one of the greatest boxers of all time, passes away

New Delhi: Legendary boxer Muhammad Ali , who had been suffering from Parkinson's disease, breathed his last  at Phoenix hospital on Friday night.

The 74-year-old boxer was hospitalized on Thursday due to a respiratory issue.

"He battled like a true fighter" Ali's doctors said about the boxing legend.

The three-time heavyweight champion had been hospitalized multiple times in recent years, including spending time in hospital in 2014 after suffering a mild pneumonia before being admitted again for a urinary tract infection last year.

Ali took retirement from his illustrious career after a defeat against Trevor Berbick in 1981. 

Indian professional boxer and Olympic bronze medallist winner Vijender Singh said in reaction to the news that Muhammad Ali was one of the greatest fighters of all time. He claimed that he had learned a lot by studying Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson, and all amateur boxers study and emulate these boxing giants.
