Maharashtra Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse resigns: Sources

New Delhi: Minutes after his meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minsiter, Devendra Fadnavis, the revenue minister of the state, Eknath Kahdse, on Saturday, has resigned from his post.
Highly placed sources in the party claim that Nitin Gadkari had played as a mediator and advised him that in the interest of party's image he should resign from the post.
The minster was embroiled in a land deal in which he is facing allegations of impropriety.

The minister was earlier seen making a concious attempt with the Central and state leadership to defend himself on the controversies.
Till yesterday, Khadse was holding 10 portfolios, including ministry of minorities welfare, ministry of animal husbandry and ministry of dairy development, among others.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had on Thursday submitted a report on the issue to party chief Amit Shah in Delhi. He had also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi pertaining to the matter.
