New Delhi: Another rebellion has emerged in Tripura against Congress where six MLAs have decided to defect. Samir Barman, former Chief Minister of Tripura is leading the rebellion where he, along with his six MLAs, including his son Sudip, will join Trinamool Congress in July.

After Uttarakhand, Meghalaya and Chhattisgarh, Tripura is the third state to invoke mutiny against Congress.

Earlier, the ex-CM’s son had written to party president Sonia Gandhi expressing the state Congress’ distress regarding its alliance with the Left and sought her intervention.

Samir Barman said in a statement, “We will contest the Vidhan Sabha elections under the guidance of Mamata Banerjee. The party has lost all its dignity after the alliance with Left.”

Last week, CPM state secretary Bijon Dhar had said the “party had made mistakes earlier as well but the alliance with the Congress was its biggest blunder.”

According to the reports, the MLA’s will join TMC next month after Ramzan.
