Jat agitation: Six groups withdraw

Chandigarh: At least six groups have withdrawn from the much speculated second round of Jat agitation in Haryana. Respective leaders of the groups have put up their demands to the government.
The Jat community has been pressing for demands of an increased quota in the government jobs and educational institutions.
Anticipating a repeat of February's violent protests that claimed more than 30 lives and injured scores of people, the police and administration have made huge seurity arrangements.
Section 144, against unlawful gatherings has been imposed in Jhajjar, Sonipat, Rohtak, Panipat, Hisar, Fatehabad, Jind and Kaithal that incudes all the national highways.
A dedicated helpline, being monitored by a control room in Chandigarh has been put in place and bulk SMS and mobile internet have been suspended in Sonipat and Rohtak districts till further notice.
