New Delhi: Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Sunday clarified that Interpol has not rejected the Red Corner Notice (RCN) plea in Vijay Mallya’s case and has sought more information on the case.

Earlier, there were speculations that the Interpol had rejected ED’s request for a Red Corner Notice request against the beleaguered liquor baron.

A Red Corner Notice is issued to arrest and extradite offenders to the country where they are wanted.

The Enforcement Directorate had reportedly approached the Interpol on May 12 seeking a global wanted notice. However, it was speculated that the plea was rejected on grounds of insufficient evidences against Mallya, which was clarified by ED on Sunday.

As per sources, Interpol had informed ED that it needs to hear from Vijay Mallya prior to any action on the notice, since this pertains to a case of financial irregularity.
