Doha: Ecstatic at 7.9 percent of growth rate recorded in the last quarter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said there has been a surge in India’s reputation across the globe in recent times, adding this change is not because of him, but because of the 125 crore people living in the nation.
Addressing the Indian diaspora here, Prime Minister Modi said, “You are never disconnected from India. People of India in Qatar are never away from India even for a minute .They are re-living India on the soil of Qatar.”
“India’s image has been enhanced globally. There is tremendous enthusiasm towards India across the world. Today the whole world is attracted to India, is curious about India. Even you must have felt the change underway in India. The change in India has not happened due to Narendra Modi. It is due to the 125 crore people of India,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi said at present, the global agencies are in agreement that India is the fastest growing economy in the world.
“Our growth rate is high. 7.9 per cent growth has been recorded in India at a time when the country is fighting drought and water shortage. The world economy too is not doing so well at this moment. Yet, despite this India is growing,” he said.
The Prime Minister also said that his government his determined to eliminate corruption, which has troubled the nation for long.
“We have introduced several schemes for combating corruption, for fiscal discipline and economic reforms.We have decided that the bug of corruption has to be eliminated from our nation. Some scams that come to the fore are so astonishing even to me, forget about the citizens,” he said.
“When the leaders of other nations praise the achievements of our diaspora, my heart fills with pride and joy,” he added.
