Uproar in J&K Assembly; CM Mehbooba Mufti rules out Sainik Colony

Jammu: A huge uproar erupted in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Monday following the issue of sainik colonies raised by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
Massive debate continued over the resettlement of Kashmiri pundits and the sainik colonies. The Chief Minister said there will be no separate colonies for sainiks. Mufti issued a clarification saying that the area near the old airport road belongs to the armed forces however, it had no particular agenda of sainik colonies.
BJP had earlier condemned the call given by Hurriyat Conference for a shutdown in Kashmir on Friday, stating the opposition to establishment of a Sainik Colony in the Valley was "unjustified".
BJP state spokesperson Brigadier Anil Gupta had also stated that J&K has a large population of both serving and retired soldiers and just a single Sainik Colony hence, one colony is required considering welfare of the soldiers belonging to the state.
