New Delhi: Fulfilling the promise of the US-India civil nuclear agreement, The Nuclear Power Corporation of India and US firm Westinghouse have agreed to take the initial steps of engineering and site design work for construction of six nuclear power plant reactors in India.
The contractual arrangements are likely to be concluded by June 2017, according to the White House, as quoted in a PTI report.
India and the US Export-Import Bank are likely to work together toward a financing package for the project.
These reactors would bring clean energy to India and generate thousands of jobs in the US. Brian Deese, Senior Advisor to the US President said.
