New Delhi: Reeling under revolts within the wobbling party structure, the Congress party was dealt another blow when a construction firm filed an FIR (First Information Report) naming Congress President Sonia Gandhi as the prime accused.

Heather construction, the firm which filed the FIR on Wednesday, said that the Congress party in Kerala had given them a contract to construct the Rajiv Gandhi's statue at Neyyar Dam which had been later retracted by the party.

Citing non-payment of dues pertaining to the retracted contract which amounted to 2.8 crores, the construction firm directly named Sonia Gandhi in the FIR, dragging the Congress president further into a limbo of problems. Other leaders mentioned in the FIR were KPCC president VM Sudheeran and opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala.

The Indian National Congress, ever since its defeat in the state assembly polls, has been reeling under pressures of inner party member revolts and cases of corruption against its members.

Correction: The construction Rajiv Gandhi statue had been incorrectly cited as Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Institute.
