Rahul Gandhi in Maharashtra court today?

NEW DELHI: Even though the apex court on Thursday stated that the Congress Vice-President really does not have to do this, Rahul Gandhi however, is attending a court hearing in Bhiwani town of Maharashtra today in a defamation case filed against him.

His Twitter handle that was officially launched yesterday informed about the news that he was going to Bhiwani to ‘honour a commitment to the trial court’. (Also Read: Rahul Gandhi debuts on Twitter, ‘Office of RG’ posts his schedule. Will it really help Congress?)

The top court on Wednesday stayed defamation proceedings against the Gandhi scion, charged by an activist from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or RSS which the mentor of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party for reportedly blaming the organization for the killing of Mahatama Gandhi at the time of campaigning for General Election last year.

Acting on the petition filed by the Congress Vice-President, the court excused him from appearing in a court in Bhiwandi, where the case was registered.

But following is newborn political ability; Rahul Gandhi decided to be a part of the hearing in a court today.

Further explaining his ‘dedication’ and reason for his decision to be a part of the hearing, Rahul Gandhi said that he ‘respects judiciary’ and which is why he is there.
