Extortion call to Bihar civil court judge

Patna: A shocking incident came to light when a judge of a civil court of east Champaran, Motihari in Bihar received an extortion call for 25 lakh from criminals on Thursday, June 9.

After a doctor, a businessman and a government official became the victims of extortion calls, this time the criminals went a step ahead and made a civil court judge their new victim.

According to information received, judicial magistrate Nishant Kumar Priyadarshi not only received an extortion call but was also threatened for life if he refused to ‘save’ the nephew of an alleged criminal.

The case has been registered with the local police station and investigations are under way.

Speaking on the matter Nishant Kumar Priyadarshi said that, "I was in my office normally working when I received a threatening phone call from this number 8051910989."

He further added that the caller did not reveal his identity, but straightaway asked to free his nephew. The caller also gave another number 9162761839 and asked to get the protection money ready or else he would be cleaned out.

Police official Jitendra Rana (SP) said that, "The case has been registered and the accused won't be spared, no matter who he is."
