Chennai: A school teacher in Tamil Nadu's Villapuram district was arrested on Thursday morning for allegedly placing burning camphor on the legs of at least 15 students.
The school teacher, Vaijayanthimala, has been sent to the judicial custody by a local court untill June 24.
The students who were reportedly punished by the teacher for poor academic performance are students of Class 4 in the government school.
Narendra Kumar, DSP said, "We have arrested her under the Juvenile Justice Act.”
Vaijayanthimala and the Head Master of the government school were suspended on Friday by the education department.
