New Delhi: Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is known not just for his ability to amass centuries with his bat, but is also widely received for his philanthropic gestures.
When a school in West Bengal wrote to Sachin Tendulkar professing the dearth of menial facilities inside the school, little did they realise that the cricketer would soon shower them with all the attention they needed.
Sachin donated a total of Rs 76 lakhs, a sum well enough for the school to construct libraries, a laboratory and a common room for girls inside the school. Sachin donated the fund through the Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD).
The school had written to Sachin two years ago, and the eventual donation from him had arrived after a year. Now that many of the school's ameliorating agendas are fulfilled, they plan to invite the cricket maestro at the school to inaugurate a new facility.
