New Delhi: A team of eight Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members on Wednesday reached Kairana to conduct probe and investigate whether it was particularly Hindus who were driven out of their land.
The BJP delegation will submit the reports to BJP president Amit Shah after the probe.
There have been allegations which claim that the Hindu community from Kairana village in Shamli district in western Uttar Pradesh were forced to leave their homes by people from another community.
The BJP MP Hukum Singh had alleged that 346 Hindu families had left their homes in Kairana over threat over extortion by people from a particular community.
Earlier this week, most of the prominent BJP members had claimed that the Akhilesh Yadav government is patronising violence and under their rule, criminals are taking advantage of the lawlessness in the state. Shrikant Sharma, a BJP member, said that Hindu families had been targeted and driven out of their homes.
But the locals who are more aware of the situation say that the town constituted of both Hindu and Muslim families. The local individual alleges that because of two or three murders in the area, the residents had decided to abandon the land.
