“The Jet Airways Flight 9W 2839 going to Mangaluru from Bengaluru returned to the Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (KIAB), after smoke was observed in the cabin. A full emergency was declared at KIAB for priority landing following which the runway closed for operations at 1020 Hours. The aircraft landed safely. Standard emergency procedures were followed. All 65 passengers and 4 crew members onboard were deplaned and are safe. During this period three arrival flights were held on air and five departure flights on ground. Runways resumed operations at 1051 Hours.
In line with the airport’s constant commitment towards passenger safety prompt and timely action from the Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting team ensured that all passengers onboard the aircraft were evacuated safely.”
