Bengaluru: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is all set to include the HAL Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40 (HTT-40) aircraft in its fleet. The HTT-40 is expected to make its inaugural flight on Friday in the presence of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

The HAL HTT-40 aircraft project is a Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) proposal for an indigenous replacement for the Indian Air Force's retired HPT-32 Deepak as a basic trainer.

The indigenous basic trainer aircraft had, after much delay, had made its maiden flight on Tuesday. The aircraft is aimed at being used for the first stage training for all flying cadets.

Indian Air Force is expected to procure seventy HTT-40 aircraft.
