New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on June 23 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The meeting will be held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Corporation.
China has been opposing the entry of India in the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), therefore the meeting will have pivotal importance as it is being speculated that PM Modi will be taking up this issue seriously with China and hope for a change of heart from the neighbour.
USA and several other countries have backed India's bid in joining the Nuclear Suppliers Group.
However, China had earlier also hampered India joining the security council of United Nations. India is aiming that the NSG membership is on its own power and standing. There have been reports in the Chinese media that there should same exemptions about India and Pakistan.
