Commuters stage protest in Thane after rain affects Central Railway line in Mumbai

Mumbai: The Mumbai local train service - a lifeline of Mumbaikars - was severely affected on Tuesday because of heavy rain that led to water logging in the city.
As per reports, rail tracks were submerged and the trains are running 30 minutes late. Due to heavy rain, water logging at Mankhurd, Track Down at Vidya Vihar Thane, Vikroli Bhandup Central Railway main and harbour line train services affected.
In the meantime, commuters came on track in Thane to stage protest. The situation was brought under control after Thane police reached the spot.
Earlier on Monday the suburban network of Western Railway came to halt after a battery box was stolen at the Mahim Electric Substation.
