New Delhi: Retaliating at Subramanian Swamy for his censuring of the Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday locked horns with his BJP compatriot and said that the government had full confidence in Arvind Subramanian.
After Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan announced that he will not be serving a second term, the BJP supremo ‘relished’ the confession and became a strong figurehead due to his constant criticism of the RBI governor.
Not only defending Arvind, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the CEA had provided valuable insights from time to time. The Finance Minister is also believed to be on the radar of the senior BJP leader, who may go on the offensive until the tide dies down.
“Guess who encouraged Congi to become rigid on GST clauses? Jaitley’s economic adviser Arvind Subramanian of Washington DC,” read one of the tweets from Subramanian Swamy, who reiterated the fact that the government needed to sack him.
