Shocking ‘midnight tashan’ act by doctors; post pictures while operating

Jalandar: A shocking incident from Jalandhar, doctors posed for pictures in the midst of a surgery and later posted them on social media.

In the pictures posted online, doctors along with their staff were seen smiling and posing for pictures while a doctor was holding surgical instruments inside the patient’s stomach. Another doctor even kept her ‘scissor’ on the patient to pose for a picture. Also, one doctor was seen using cellphone during the surgery.

The pictures which went viral were reportedly posted by the head of the Department (HoD) of Urology who is also employed with DMC, Ludhiana, as an assistant professor, and with CMC Hospital, Vellore, who captioned the pictures captioned as 'midnight tashan'.

The pictures were taken when the trio was conducting a laparotomy of anatomical malrotation of the bowel of a patient in obstruction inside the operation theatre.

As per reports, the doctors accepted their fault and said “We were tired after carrying out surgeries continuously from 5 am till midnight this was the last case brought to us as an emergency." Adding this, one doctor said that they took pictures only while they were closing down. The photographs were later removed from Facebook.

Dr Kulbir Sharma, Medical Superintendent, PIMS, said, “I will check as to with what intention they had posted the pictures on the social media website. Only then I will be able to take any appropriate action."
