New Delhi: There is still a murky shadow over actor Gajendra Chauhan's appointment as the Chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII); this insinuation deepened against him on Thursday when Chauhan visited the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat.
Asked about why and for what purpose he had decided to visit Bhagwat, the FTII Chairman said that Bhagwat was "like a father figure" to him and had met him on the purpose of inviting him to his son's wedding.
Chauhan claimed that it was just a courtesy call and also claimed that he was not affected in any way by the accusations of the FTII Chairman staying loyal to the RSS. "Sangh is like my family," claimed Gajendra Chauhan.
FTII has witnessed raging protests from its students and this visitation from the Chairman himself will crystallise rumours about the FTII Chairman's intimate relationship with the RSS organisation.
The Congress party has condemned this visitation from Gajendra Chauhan citing that it only showed that the RSS had helped the actor become anointed as the chairman of the FTII.
Gajendra Chauhan assumed office amidst strong protests from FTII students regarding his appointment.
