New Delhi: Chattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Wednesday night commenced the ceremony of congratulating 27 tribal students who had been selected for admission in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that he was very happy with the selection of the tribal students and felt as if his own children had got selected for IIT. Raman said that the government was striving hard to educate more tribal students and expressed hope that the number of students selected would increase from 27 to 100-200.
'Prayas', an initiative by the state's tribal welfare department, caters to tribal students by providing them free tuition and other necessities required for effective assimilation of information.
While congratulating the entrants, the CM distributed Apple Macbook to all the students.
