Chandigarh: Reaffirming the Indian railway’s commitment to provide better infrastructure, Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off an 81-km dedicated train line between Sonipat and Jind.
During the inauguration, Railway Minister Prabhu said, “The Government will pump-in investments to further improve railway infrastructure in the region while describing Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh as the growth triangle of India.”
“Railways has joined hands with Haryana, seeking speedy execution of viable rail projects in the state in a joint venture model,” the railway minister said.
Other projects to be launched from Chandigarh include new foot over bridge at Platform No. 4 and 5 at the Sonepat Railway Station and inauguration of a mechanised laundry in Chandigarh. The laundry would cater to the requirement of cleaning of linen for the entire Ambala division.
Apart from this, foundation stone of coaching-cum-maintenance facilities at Chheharta Railway Station would also be laid.
