Dinesh Mohaniya's bail application was was arrested on Saturday on charges of molestation and sexual harassment.

New Delhi:The Delhi Court, which dismissed the bail plea of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Dinesh Mohaniya in connection with assault charges on Monday, said there has been no change in the circumstances to consider his bail plea and also took note of Investigating Officer's apprehension that Mohaniya may influence the witnesses.
The Saket District court sent Mohaniya to 14-day Judicial Custody till July 11.
"It is further requested by the IO (Investigating Officer) that accused should be sent to JC for 14 days in order to investigate the matter properly.During hearing IO submitted that if accused release on bail, he may influence the witnesses and evidence..create obstacles in arresting of other co accused and hamper the investigation," court said during the hearing.
Mohaniya was arrested on Saturday on charges of molestation and sexual harassment while he was addressing a press conference in Delhi’s Tughlakabad area.
The vice-chairman of Delhi Jal Board was arrested after locals alleged that the MLA and his supporters roughed them up and misbehaved with women in his office when they went to complain about irregular water supply.
Infuriated with the arrest of the Mohaniya, Arvind Kejriwal had said in a tweet, “Modi has declared 'Emergency' in the national capital. Arresting, raiding, terrorizing, filing false cases against all those whom Delhi elected.”
A case has been registered against Mohaniya under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 341(punishment for wrongful restraint) and 34 (act done by several persons) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Govindpuri Police Station.
