New Delhi: Central government employees are likely to receive a big bonanza as reports hint at a hike of about 15-20% in their salaries under the proposed Seventh Pay Commission.

The Cabinet will take up Seventh Pay Commission committee's report during the meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday, after Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa on June 27 said that the Empowered Committee of Secretaries had finalised its report.

Sources say that the recommendations of the pay commission are expected to be accepted by Narendra Modi government. The government had in January set up a panel, Empowered Committee of Secretaries, headed by Cabinet Secretary, to process the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission.

The Commission will revise the pay of nearly 50 lakh central government employees and more than 50 lakh pensioners.
