New Delhi: In an Indian Express report on the Bihar topper scam which blew the roof off of all educational institutions in Bihar, political science topper Ruby Rai confessed that she only wanted herself to be passed but had been instead made the topper by her father.
"Maine to papa se kaha tha pass karwa dijiye, unhone ne to top hi karwa diya," said Rai, who had made a massive blunder in an interview when she said that political science was a cooking subject.
Patna special Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj said that the accused had readily accepted that she was not deserving of the top spot and blamed her parents and Bachcha Rai, the college principal, for cooking up the scam.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had demanded a strict criminal investigation into the scam and had said that whoever was found guilty in the topper scam won't be spared. Many on social media have slammed the government's move for arresting the student instead of the individuals who had partaken in the scam.
