New Delhi: The Superintendent of Police (SP) R Chetan was sent a second summon by the National Commission for Woman (NCW) after he failed to present himself in the office on Thursday. “The SP was asked to be present before the NCW on Thursday. But he chose to ignore the warning calls given to him by the commission,” NCW said.
The Bellary SP R Chetan had earlier said he will not appear before the commission and will send his responses through a subordinate.
On Thursday, the SP sent his subordinate to defend his case.
This is the second time NCW is sending summon to Chetan regarding the complaint by the former Deputy Superintendent of Police Anupama Shanoy.
Earlier in the day, Shenoy had said that she is a victim of both the system and the politics.
"Entire society is male-dominated and system also is working to the tunes of male ideas only. I'm just trying to say my grievances, don't expect anything. But if at all I get justice, I'll be very happy," she said.
In a letter which was dated June 4, Anupama alleged that Chetan harassed her while she was on duty as Deputy Superintendent of Police.
The letter, which was addressed to the chairperson of the National Commission for Women, accused Bellary SP and other netas of harassment.
Shenoy's 7-page letter started doing rounds on social media sites where it was widely circulated.
