Ranchi: Jharkhand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Tala Marandi's son Munna Maranda has landed himself in yet another controversy. Munna is accused of marrying an 11-year-old girl. As per reports, the marriage took place on June 27 in Jharkhand's Godda region.
Chief Minister Raghubar Das was also scheduled to attend the reception of the marriage which was held on Wednesday. But CM cancelled it at the last moment to avoid controversy.
Earlier on Wednesday, there were reports that Munna sexually exploited a 16-year-old girl for two years and promised to marry her but he later backed out.
As per reports, Munna was set to marry the young girl's cousin, but after the allegations of sexual exploitation, the family backed out and he had to marry the 11-year-old girl in a hurry.
Not leaving the opportunity, Congress took a jibe on BJP and PM Narendra Modi. Congress Leader Shobha Oza said, "On one side, the BJP and the Prime Minister chant the slogan of 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' and on the other side, the son of their party president in Jharkhand is married to a girl who is minor."
