New Delhi: BJP President Amit Shah on Tuesday inaugurated World's largest 'Charkha' at the terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Speaking at the occasion, the BJP President recalled the role of Charkha in struggle movement.
Installation of the iconic Charkha at IGI will promote the rich culture of India, Amit Shah said.
“Installation of the iconic charkha at the departure forecourt between gates number four and five would carry forward the legacy of promoting India's rich culture heritage through different artworks at the terminal,” said Shah.

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) installed the Charkha at the airport. The 'Charkha' was built by 42 carpenters from Ahmedabad and it took them 55 days to complete it.
The KVIC said that the idea behind displaying the world's largest charkha at the country's busiest airport is to highlight India's quest to foster an egalitarian society as demonstrated by Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation.
