New Delhi: While Kashmir faces unrest after Hizbul commander Burhan Wani's encounter, Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) student Umar Khalid has raked another controversy by comparing Wani to a revolutionary.
Khalid said that Burhan Wani lived a free man and detested life in subjugation. Meanwhile, ABVP students have hit out at Umar Khalid saying this isn't right and demanded action against him.
Umar posted statements on Facebook and equated Burhan Wani to ‘Che Guevara’ (an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, author, guerrilla leader, diplomat, and military theorist). However, he later removed the post for some reason which he has not explained.
Umar Khalid, who is out on bail for an interim period of 6 months, was arrested earlier after a JNU event where slogans in favour of Afzal Guru were raised.
