Muzaffarnagar: Ahead of the 2017 Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) named 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots accused Suresh Rama as one of its vice presidents in UP.
An MLA from Shamli, Suresh Rana, will be one of the 15 party vice presidents in the state, who are led by UP BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya.
Rana, a controversial figure post Muzaffarnagar riots, was arrested under the National Security Act for inciting mob violence in 2013. However, later he was granted bail.
But, it’s not only BJP that has inducted a controversial figure in the wake of the UP Assembly elections next. Congress member, Imran Masood from U.P. who had threatened Narendra Modi in 2014 saying, “chop Narendra Modi into pieces”, has been given an important role to play for the party in the upcoming elections.
