Hyderabad: A priest was arrested for allegedly raping a woman in Hyderabad on Thursday. As per sources, the priest called the 45-year old woman to his room on the pretext of performing a special 'pooja' in order to rid her of all her problems.
The accused priest is identified as 26-year-old K Rama Rao alias ‘Ramu’, who had noticed the woman crying at the temple a day ago in Vittalwadi area. Disclosing the matter, Narayanguda police station Inspector S Bheem Reddy said, "The accused lured the woman on the pretext of performing a special pooja to help her get rid of all her problems and further asked her to bring turmeric and five lemons with her."
Following the complaint filed by the woman, the accused was nabbed from the temple under the charges of rape under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
