New Delhi: The Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) in Maharashtra arrested a 31-year-old Islamic State (IS) suspect from Parbhani on Thursday.

The ATS had been informed by one of their sources that the suspect was in touch with IS recruiters online and was about to go join the IS. The suspect was planning to fly down to Syria or Iraq to join the notorious IS group.

ATS revealed that the arrested man was in touch with another man named Faruq on social media with the use of multiple IDs. He was also planning a terror attack.

The Maharashtra ATS is probing all angles in the case, including whether or not the suspect followed Islamic preacher Zakir Naik.
