New Delhi: More than 10 paramilitary commandos were killed on Monday night at Aurangabad district in Bihar when Maoists in the area set off an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
Commando Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were scouring the jungles of Aurangabad district for Maoists when an IED explosive planted by the militants in the area set off a huge blast. The CRPF commandos belonged to the elite COBRA battalion.
After the attack, the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA) unit launched an attack against the Maoists and killed four of their militants in the area.
Security forces suspect that more IED explosives have been planted in the jungles after they recovered arms and ammunitions from the blast site.
The elite COBRA commandos are trained to operate themselves in jungle warfare. With more than 10 dead, this is one of the worst casualties suffered by the unit.
