New Delhi: Dalit community in Gujarat on Monday staged protest against the state government for the atrocities that were 'intentionally' overlooked by the government. Seven Dalit individuals even tried to commit suicide to register their indignation.

The protest march in Rajkot which witnessed the torching of one state transport bus, five Dalit individuals protesting from Gondal consumed pesticides to commit suicide. Two others from Jamkandorana town also consumed pesticides.

The protest was triggered by the recent public thrashing of Dalit individuals in Una, Gujarat for allegedly skinning a dead cow. The Monsoon Parliament Session was briefly adjourned yesterday when BSP chief Mayawati launched a scathing attack against the BJP government for undermining the gravity of atrocities against Dalits in the country.

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel announced after the incidence that the state would appoint a designated court which will be set up to expedite the trial and chargesheet will be submitted within 60 days.

CID probe has been called in this attack against Dalits.

In the video which went viral on social media, several Dalit individuals are publicly beaten with rods and sticks despite explaining that the cow they were skinning was already dead.
