New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) woman activist allegedly committed suicide in Narela area Delhi on Tuesday. Her family claims that she had gone into depression when her party colleague, who molested her, was released on bail.
Police revealed that the woman consumed some poisonous substance at her home on Tuesday afternoon and died during treatment at the LNJP Hospital.
Ramesh Wadhwa, another AAP worker, was accused by the deceased for allegedly touching her inappropriately. A case was registered against the accused in June this year.
The family of the deceased has also alleged that the accused is being shielded by local MLA Sharad Chauhan.
BJP has accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and local MLA Sharad Chauhan for the girl’s death.
"It may be recalled that this girl had been raising the issue of her harassment for months but AAP leaders ignored it. This incident has established anti-woman character of AAP," said Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay in a statement.
The Aam Aadmi Party has countered the accusations of BJP by saying BJP is politicising the death of the girl.
