New Delhi: An ugly spat took place in Rajya Sabha during the monsoon session of Parliament on Friday (22 July) after Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury allegedly called Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal ‘kachra’.
The spat between the two ministers took place when National Democratic Alliance (NDA) MPs were in the well of the house protesting and demanding suspention of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Mann over his Parliament video issue. Meanwhile the Congress party was extremely keen on moving a private member’s bill in the Parliament.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal alleged that she was called ‘kachra’ (garbage) by Congress party members Jairam Ramesh and Renuka Chowdhury.
Renuka did not deny the allegation.
Responding to the issue, Harsimrat Kaur Badal said, "If they thought I would be quiet, they are sadly mistaken. What do Rahul and Sonia Gandhi have to say about their goons heckling and intimidating a woman minister/MP?"

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar also met Harsimrat Badal after Jairam Ramesh and Renuka Choudhry verbally attacked her inside Parliament.
Top BJP leadership called up Harsimrat Badal and expressed their support. Both BJP and SAD will take up this matter in the RS on Monday.
"I am going to move privilege motion against them...this is not the way you behave with a minister," Harsimrat Kaur Badal said.
