New Delhi: Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) and three-time Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati said that she wanted the Akhilesh Yadav government to arrest expelled BJP member Dayashankar Singh.
Not only targeting the Samajwadi Party (SP) for alleged inaction against Dayashankar, Mayawati also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the latter was silent over the atrocities being performed on Dalit individuals in the country.
"It is a sad thing that PM Modi has not spoken about the Una incident. This clearly shows that the BJP is not with Dalits," said Mayawati.
Citing that the SP was under scrutiny from the BJP govt, Mayawati said that the FIR lodged against her by Dayashankar's mother was a conspiracy by the BJP and MP to protect Dayashankar.
"BJP ke liye achcha hota ki Dayashankar ki beti ke samman ke sath hi ek Dalit ki beti ke samman mein pradarshan karte," (It is for the betterment of BJP if they protest for the plight of Dalit girls instead of protesting only about Dayashankar's daughter) Mayawati said.
"I don't think Dayashankar will be arrested and punished. BSP party will alone fight for Dalits, poor and will demand for justice," the BSP chief said.
"Akhilesh addresses me as 'Bua' for my respect. But if Dayashankar is not arrested then will come to power and raise this issue," said Mayawati.
Dayashankar Singh came under national attention when he indirectly referred to Mayawati as "prostitute".
