New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday greeted the nation on the 17th Kargil Vijay Diwas, saying the heroic sacrifices of soldiers continue to inspire people.
“On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I bow to every valiant soldier who fought for India till the very last breath. Their heroic sacrifices inspire us,” Modi said in a statement.
“We recall with pride the firmness demonstrated by India’s political leadership in 1999 which ensured a decisive victory in Kargil,” he added.
Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates India’s victory in the high outposts on July 26, 1999 after they were lost to Pakistani intruders and regulars.
