New Delhi: Two teenage girls ended their lives in separate incidents in Tiruvannamalai and Ghaziabad.

Bhavanitook, a 16-year-old girl committed suicide by setting herself ablaze over her poor performance in the English subject on Monday. The girl was a student of a municipal high school in Keelnathur in Tiruvannamalai district. The incident happened after Bhavanitook’s parents left for work.

According to the complaint lodged by the girl’s family, the teenager was depressed as she was not able to grasp English well. She had spoken to her siblings about how dejected she was for not being good at English. She had also expressed her disinterest to go to school.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.

In another case, a 16-year-old girl Jasmine committed suicide by hanging herself from an iron grill above a window inside her house in Ghaziabad’s Ghookna area. The incident happened when the girl’s father Bhaiya Ratan Singh Tomar was taken by police to the Sihani Gate police station for having allegedly misbehaved with a couple of women staff members of his daughter’s school.

The girl, who was a student at a private school in Sewa Nagar of Ghaziabad, had not been able to pay her school fees for the past three months. When two women staff members of the school went to Jasmine’s house to speak to her father, the staff member and Tomar got into a heated argument. The women called the PCR and the police took all of them to the police station. That’s when the girl took this extreme step, police said.
