Mumbai: The passenger, whose behaviour forced a Kozhikode bound Indigo flight from Dubai to make an emergency landing in Mumbai on Thursday morning, is reportedly ‘mentally disturbed, said the police.
Ismail, 24, who allegedly attacked passengers and refused to remain in his seat despite repeated warnings, was travelling to Kerala with his brother. He also shouted that he was scared that the aircraft was being hijacked by ISIS militants.
After the flight crew failed to control the situation, the flight was routed to Mumbai for an emergency landing and Ismail was taken away for questioning by the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF).
As per some unconfirmed reports, it was also reported that Ismail shouted pro-ISIS slogans, which the officials denied.
The enquiry is still on.
