New Delhi: Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be taking an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Assam on Saturday. The minister will be accompanied by Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh.
Due to incessant monsoon rain in Assam, the water level of Brahmaputra River, Assam has increased dangerously, leading to many small villages being inundated with water.
Nagaon, Morigaon and Kaziranga are some of the worst affected areas in the flood, leading to endangerment of wildlife in the region.
With over 19 districts submerged in water, more than 15 lakh people are displaced or directly affected by the floods in Assam.
Rajnath Singh will also hold a meeting with newly-appointed Chief Sarbananda Sonowal and state government officers prior to his departure to Delhi.
