Sonia Gandhi's mega rally in PM Modi's Varanasi halted after sudden illness

Varanasi: Sonia Gandhi's mega rally in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's bastion Varanasi was halted on Tuesday after the Congress President  was advised rest by the doctor due to fever. 
Earlier, thousands of suporters had turned up at the rally that was being touted as a strength show in Varanasi, PM Modi seat. The Congress Chief  arrived to a rousing welcome, with party workers lining up both sides of the road from the airport and raising slogans hailing her. On her arrival, she had also paid tribute to BR Ambedkar.
During her Varanasi visit, Congress supremo was to offer prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath temple after leading the roadshow.
Earlier in the day, Congress party leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi said that people of the holy city constituency were feeling cheated as the Prime Minister has hardly paid any attention to them since assuming power in Delhi.
"People are upset with Modi ji's two-and-a-half years of regime. He has not spent even 10 days here. Roads and drains are bad, Swacch Bharat has totally failed in Varanasi. People of Varanasi feeling cheated. The Prime Minister should tell why his constituency is being ignored," she added.
