Chennai: The minor girl who suffered critical burn injuries after a 32-year-old man set himself ablaze and then embraced her allegedly after the girl rejected the stalker's proposal, finally succumbed to her burn injuries on Wednesday in Puducherry.
The victim who was a minor had received 90% burns when her stalker seriously burnt her. The girl had been admitted at JIPMER hospital in Puducherry.
G Senthil was an unemployed youth who professed his love to the minor girl, and when the girl repeatedly spurned his proposals, he set himself on fire and hugged the girl to take her down with him.
According to police, this was not the first time that Senthil had attempted suicide. A year ago, he had allegedly tried to kill himself by jumping in front of an approaching train.
The girl's parent had lodged a police complaint against Senthil earlier; the man was arrested but was later released by the court.
