New Delhi: The United Nations has backtracked on its assertion that it was monitoring the situation in Kashmir through the UN military observers group in India and Pakistan. The UN clarified its observer’s mission and said it is limited to the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan forces.
This is a sort of backtracking of further assertion which it had made earlier that it has been monitoring situation in Kashmir.
Pakistan has been trying to approach the United Nation when it comes to the issue of Kashmir. However, not for the first time, the UN has made amply clear that it was not monitoring the situation in Kashmir through the UN military observers group in India and Pakistan.
United Nation had earlier said and repeated it once again just after Pakistan efforts to internationalise the issue of Kashmir and taking it back to the United Nations, that there is no role the UN can play in resolving the bilateral and outstanding issue of Kashmir, as it’s a bilateral issue.
